Online Discrimination for jobs & BS job offers.

For those of us searching for jobs two things have become apparent when applying online for a job.

  1. It’s much easier for them to discriminate against you, i.e. because of your age or disabilities or race without have to interview you at all.
  2. And if you put your resume up on sites like Monster or Dice, etc. you will get job offers from companies that don’t even look at your profile goals or resume.

Case in point, for the companies that don’t look at profiles. You can put that you don’t want inquires from insurance companies and that is all you get for days and days and days.

Or you apply for things you know your qualified or over qualified for and there response is we are considering more qualified applicants. When you go by the place in question and see the new hires they are younger than you and in some cases you realize not as qualified as you are, so you know you have been discriminated against, yet you can’t do anything about it.

It sucks looking for work.

Note to Candidates!

—–Soap Box Edition——-Quit Pissing Us Off!. Quit trying to defund Plan Parent hood. Quit trying to get rid of Social Security. Quit fighting us on getting a decent wage. Quit making stupid statements about what the founding fathers believed, you guys haven’t got a clue. Quit the racist BS. Quit pissing all of the women off. We can vote you know. Religion is only being mentioned because you keep shoving yours in our face, we have our own you know.
I still haven’t been able to get a job since I graduated last year, and it’s mostly due to the republicans in congress cutting funding or other jobs. Really you guys are annoying the hell out of me and after the debates I’m so unimpressed. You guys are idiots it’s no wonder the comedians right now have a lot of material.
PS. We are going to miss you Jon Stewart.

Over 50 and looking at being homeless.

jobYeah if your over 50 and still have a mortgage it’s a possibility. Your are the new “unemployable’ or as some put it it’s ageism discrimination. There are hundreds of stories out there on the internet, because employers have decided they don’t want you. Some companies have laid off all there over 50’s and now are asking for MA or BA so they can weed out the 50 somethings. You done your job well and better in some cases since you got out of high school but now you can’t even get your foot in the door because of the new requirements. Go back to school, right so I can be father in debt. That’s how it’s starting to shape up.

India, if it’s not customer service…now they are recruiters.

Well remember when you pissed off at tech support and customer service because it was being outsource to India. indiaYou can’t understand them and they don’t understand what problems your having.
Try a bigger problem now, you all looking for work but the only people calling you about jobs is….you guessed it recruiters from India. If you are looking for work and haven’t had to deal with one of these recruiters count yourself lucky. It is pissing a lot of people off.
Most of them have even more problems with English then the tech support people had.
Not to mention the biggest grip seems to be how rude they are.
They are telling people how to change things on their resumes that don’t need to be changed, (because they don’t understand what you do, not that the employer won’t understand what you do.)
When you ask for jobs specifics you won’t get them, and if you ask for the company name they won’t tell you.
HCL is one of these companies that recruits for American companies but they have problem at home.
Here are a couple more articles on India’s Recruiters.
Commentary on a number of forums are also complaining about how rude they are to people looking for work.
The worst thing most people have said is, “They don’t understand what I do and you can’t explain it to them. They don’t listen. They are hard to understand. I just won’t talk to them. I want someone who can speak English.”
HEY AMERICAN EMPLOYERS THIS WAS A BAD IDEA JUST LIKE OUTSOURCING TECH SUPPORT!

Over 40, you may be discriminated against for a job.

With the rise in unemployment there has also been a rise in discrimination against the older working force. Those that are out of work and have been working since they left high school will understand what I’m talking about. The job description says: Must have BS or BA or MS or MA. They don’t want work experience equivalent.

This is a shame since most of the older work force is willing to take a little less for the job, just so they can have a job. Plus they probably can do the job in half the time as a person with a degree, because they have been doing the job for a long time. I feel for the people who are losing there homes because they are being passed over on the basis of no degree. The people who haveĀ  learning the jobs they are good at and now can’t get work. They have 10+ years of experience and are being told sorry we want a person with a degree.

It tight out there finding a job, but this sort of thing doesn’t help. Companies have practiced discrimination on some level since people have been looking for jobs. Now a days they have figured out how to hide it with fancy terms.

Don’t get me wrong, people fresh out of college need to find work too. It’s just a shame that te older folks are being te victims this time around.
