Diabetic Meters and Strips….accurate and price.

17-53-Category_Primary_ImageI’ve tried the Accu-Check Avia, One Touch Ultra and Mini, FreeStyle and a generic brand sold at the Groceries store pharmacy. I did a sample test. Same finger same time. The meters varied as much as 10 points higher or lower than one another. The cost of the meters also varies depending on insurance and if you get it for free. The worst price issue has to do with the strips. For those who are not on insurance and don’t have the prescription cards this can be a large outlay of cash. they used to be a buck a strip but now it’s going up to $1.50. So if you get 100 strips you are paying about $150.00. Well if you go with a generic meter you may pay as little as $35.00. Something to think about if you are getting tired of being bleed by the big companies.
